On this day in 1953, Hugh Hefner published the first edition of Playboy featuring the infamous picture Marilyn Munroe. Nowadays Playboy's iconic mascot of a rabbit wearing a bow tie is recognisable worldwide.

This was long before my time. I have no idea what Playboy has meant in a historical perspective. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is just a small part of human development, rather than the start of something bigger.
